Now it has been professionally edited. The cover above is a mockup I put together as a placeholder while I commission a real title, altered from Mikhail Nilov's artwork (source: Pexels).
It's becoming real, folks. It'll be in your hands soon, and that feels amazing.
So what is Samedi about?
It's about my experiences in academia. It's about the wonders of exploring space, and the misadventures I've had exploring Earth. It's about found family. It's about making the wrong decisions for the right reasons. It's about trauma forcing you to become resilient while causing you not to confront your feelings. It's about fear of not belonging, resentment of being less privileged, determination to keep slogging through it all. It's about finding courage and unexpected strength. It's about queer.
But on its face, it's about a forensic specialist named Ash Telanera - a lovable curmudgeon with a whole stack of chips on their shoulder. When this damned unlikely action hero stumbles into the greatest discovery in human experience, they have to hitch up their bootstraps and save lives.
